The Guidance Program

The guidance program at Franklin Borough School is a support system for students, faculty, and parents. Individual counseling, classroom instruction about guidance-related issues, support groups for students, and academic advisement are all provided through the guidance office. In addition, students are encouraged to seek out the school counselor to discuss any issue or concern. Teachers may refer students for counseling, and parents are encouraged to contact the guidance counselor with any concerns they may have about their child's academic, emotional, or social growth and development.

Additional support is provided for eighth graders transitioning to high school. Applications to Sussex County Technical High School as well as Pope John XXIII are initiated in the guidance office. Visits to Sussex Tech and presentations by the staff of area high schools are arranged. Eighth graders participate in a career exploration program called, "The Real Game," which offers students the opportunity to experience reality-based decision-making, explore interests, and related job options.

The school counselor, Ms. Minimi, serves as the Affirmative Action Officer, 504 Coordinator, and, Anti-Bullying Specialist.

If you have any questions, you can reach the guidance office at 973-827-9775, ext. 210.
